The Associate Director of Graphic Design and Digital Strategy will serve as the department’s design coordinator, direct the athletics e-mail communication plan and will manage the athletics primary social media outlets. The primary responsibility of this position is to grow the Tulane University Athletics brand on all digital platforms.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Develop engaging graphical templates for external units to utilize for digital and printed publications. These templates will be put in place to grow the visibility and reach of the Tulane University Athletics brand. (30%) 2. Manage and direct content for the department’s primary social media sites including the creation and implementation of yearly social media strategies and plans. (25%) 3. Work closely with external units within the athletic department to create, test, and send scheduled emails. Oversee and maintain the online email schedule. Track, analyze, and report email performance. Constantly assess and improve Tulane Athletics email communications plan. 4. Provide analytical feedback of the growth of the department’s social media outreach, including statistics and relevant analysis. (15%) 5. Proactively promote players, coaches and the program for postseason awards. (5%) 6. NCAA Related: Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations. (5%) 7. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ graphic design experience OR High school diploma/equivalent and 8 years’ graphic design experience.
Experience with InDesign, Photoshop and After Effects
Experience with social media platforms
Exceptional design, communication and social media analytical skills
Proven ability to develop an effective social media/graphic design plan to achieve goals
Ability to both work independently and take direction from others, solve problems with limited supervision, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
Strong creative skills to further enhance the department’s brand
A collaborative work style, innovative thinking, strong work ethic, professional demeanor and enthusiastic attitude
Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends.
Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
