Coastal Carolina University is seeking to fill the position of Athletic Academic Advisor (Student Services Program Coordinator II) in the Provost’s Office.
This position will work with a number of specific sports to be determined upon hiring of the candidate. Tasks include advising of student-athletes, maintaining and monitoring NCAA eligibility data, assisting coaches with on campus recruiting, communication with appropriate faculty, staff, and other departments across campus.
Duties include, but are not limited to: coordinating and providing academic evaluation, counseling, advisement, and support to promote the academic success of student-athletes in intercollegiate sports at Coastal Carolina University. A central resource and support to student-athletes, this position will have comprehensive understanding of the curriculum, academic rules and regulations, and the unique needs of student-athletes. This position works in coordination with the Athletic Department's compliance office and the Office of the Registrar to ensure student-athletes remain in compliance with NCAA and Sunbelt Conference eligibility regulations.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and related experience working with student-athletes in an educational setting are required. Master’s degree preferred. At least two (2) years of related experience and experience working with student-athlete academic/student support services are preferred. Experience in intercollegiate athletics, and knowledge of, the rules and regulations of the NCAA Division I and of the Sunbelt Conference are also preferred. A successful candidate should have basic understanding of issues that affect NCAA Division I student-athletes; knowledge of NCAA Progress Toward Degree Requirements; NCAA Compliance Assistant software internet program; NCAA Academic Performance Program; and Graduation Success Rate; must have the ability to communicate both orally and written; the ability to exercise good judgment and must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
