The Coordinator for Student Athlete Development will work with student athletes through programming to provide life skills support to student athletes in areas of academics, athletics, personal and career development, and service. To serve as a Northern Vermont University-Lyndon Sport Coach of an athletics program(s).
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinator of Student Athlete Development
Serve as the point person for Northern Vermont University-Lyndon for the NCAA Student Affairs program to bring programming to our student athletes that will:
Develop Student Athletes as lifetime leaders. Increase the value of the student athlete experience. Expand the applicable resources provided by the NCAA and NAC to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon (e.g. grants, leadership conferences). Focus on the development of the total person during the student athlete's participation in athletics and pursuit of building skills beyond the classroom. Support student athlete input on issues related to their continually changing needs. Provide on-going education and training to athletics professionals who identify and serve student athlete needs. Assist athletic staff in translating student athlete lessons learned through athletic competition (teamwork, discipline, perseverance, leadership, etc.) into becoming a better student and responsible citizen. Serve as a SAAC Advisor. Provide intramural, recreation, and educational programming promoting wellness to our student body.
Assist with all aspects of the specific athletics program(s) including but not limited to: Preparation of game schedule; teach sport skills and techniques; devise and implement game strategies; incorporate proper conditioning methods; prepare daily practices and season plan; budget management; order supplies and uniforms; compile and record end-of-season award winner(s); compile and record stats and team records; assist in maintaining equipment.
Develop and encourage individual student-athlete and team success by: Creating and implementing team-building exercises with special attention to team cohesiveness and sportsmanship; supporting and encouraging the educational pursuits of student-athletes, making every effort to ensure that all student-athletes meet their academic requirements; monitoring student-athletes' performance based on academic and intercollegiate eligibility criteria;assisting student-athletes in progressing toward a degree in a defined academic program; Recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes including: correspondences, written and oral, with all appropriate coaches and students and others. Attend appropriate matches and contests. Adhere to NCAA, NAC and Northern Vermont University-Lyndon rules and regulations. Maintain effective relationships with student-athletics, peers, administrators, faculty, media, parents and the general public. Fundraise as needed. Attend campus events as appropriate.

VSC UP PAT Bargaining Unit/Grade 11/Exempt
Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree preferred. College playing and/or coaching experience of a minimum of 2 years preferred.
A commitment to the Mission of the College, the athletics program, the development of character in student-athletes and the academic program.
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills, highly motivated and organized.
Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
