About Cougar Athletics
Azusa Pacific sponsors 19 intercollegiate sports and is a member of NCAA Division II’s Pacific West Conference, along with affiliate membership in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for football, the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference for women’s swimming and diving, and the Golden Coast Conference for women’s water polo.
Serve as a primary and secondary contact for three Azusa Pacific intercollegiate athletics teams (sport assignments may vary based on successful candidate’s experience and preference). Will include secondary responsibilities with football, acrobatics & tumbling, and track & field.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions • Direct and produce video content utilizing game highlights, student-athlete profiles, and event marketing • Work closely with the sports information director and associate director in designing and producing visual content for social media and website platforms • Develop and implement department strategy promoting expanded visibility of Azusa Pacific athletics visual content • Maintain current cumulative statistics on assigned sports and distribute those stats in a timely manner to coaches, media and opposing schools • Oversee media operations for home contests of assigned sports, including equipment operation, event staffing, game programs, game stories, and feature stories of assigned sports • Research history of assigned sports and maintain accurate and complete records on those sports • Assist in producing content of the Azusa Pacific athletics web page and be the primary contact person for its timely updates for assigned sports • Provide access to coaches and student-athletes for members of local, hometown, and campus media outlets, providing media availability and workspaces to media outlets to cover events and feature stories associated with Azusa Pacific Athletics • Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor • Special Projects (duties may be shared among department staff and other graduate assistants) • Assist department’s advisor for the student club (the “Zu”); meet regularly with undergraduate student leaders to coordinate communication between athletics teams, student spirit groups, and athletics department to enhance marketing efforts in conjunction with athletic contests • Lead Sports Information coverage of annual student-athlete banquet, including planning & production of season highlight video, award winner bios, website recap, photography, and script • Responsible for maintaining static pages (youth camps, I.D. camps, recruiting) on Azusa Pacific sport websites

For applicants to the M.S. in P.E./sport management and integrated leadership program, a cumulative minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade-point average on the posted degree is required for regular admission status. Provisional admittance may be granted to individuals with a 2.5–2.9 GPA if competency can be shown through multiple measures.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
Entry-level experience working for professional sports organization, intercollegiate athletic department, or similar event management experience
Completion of undergraduate sports management or sports journalism intro-level coursework and workshop experience is recommended
Commitment to Christian lifestyle; spiritual maturity
Knowledge of structure and philosophy of athletics organizations and programs
Demonstrated writing and oral communication skills
Computer and desktop publishing proficiency
Video and still photography skills, including familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite applications for creation and design of photo and video content
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software (especially Premiere, InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator), Google Apps, Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel)
Additional Salary Information: In addition to partial tuition scholarship, graduate assistant will be paid hourly wages for office hours and coverage of special events (unassigned sports).
