Francis Marion University, an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Peach Belt Conference, invites applications for the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position is full-time. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the overall operation of the strength and conditioning program, which includes the oversight, implementation and development of performance programming for student-athletes in accordance with Francis Marion University, conference and NCAA regulations. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to The Director of Athletics.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: •Develop and implement strength and conditioning programs for 13 Division II and one Division I athletic teams •Work with the head coaches of these programs to develop sport specific programs that align with the goals of the head coach for pre-season, post-season, in-season and out of season development to optimize performance and decrease injury potential •Regularly test the student-athletes to determine the effectiveness of the programs •Assist with the oversight of sport-specific conditioning programs and teach proper weight lifting, speed, agility and conditioning techniques •Provide critical elements of training for the prevention of injury and for the skills and level of preparedness for student-athletes to reach a high level of competitiveness •Maintain accurate records of student-athletes' progress within the strength and conditioning program •Oversee staff, interns and volunteers in strength and conditioning •Oversee weight room operations which include daily maintenance, repairs and operations •Schedule athletics teams and supervise workouts of student-athletes
Program Administration duties: •Operate within all Francis Marion University, Peach Belt Conference and NCAA regulations •Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, coaches, student-athletes, sports medicine team and other university departments •Proven ability to multi-task, work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner •Demonstrated successful leadership and decision-making skills •Work with the Athletic Training Staff as well as the Head Coach to ensure student-athletes are successful in injury prevention and rehabilitation efforts •Must possess problem solving and critical thinking skills •Innovation and creativity, adaptability, initiative and stress tolerance to various situations in a fast-pace work environment •Must provide a high level of customer service •Demonstrated track record of developing collaborative relationship with both internal and external constituencies •Represent the university at various clinics, workshops, etc. as needed •Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization. Must be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience at the intercollegiate level.
