BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Cross Country Coach shall be under the supervision of the Head Cross Country Coach. The Assistant Coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach with all aspects of the cross country program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Serve as program's recruiting coordinator identifying potential student/athletes, office organization, home and campus visits, off-campus travel, academic evaluation, phone and letter correspondence. Adhere to the recruiting budget allocated; assist in all areas relating to the operation of the cross country program, including day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities; assist with coordination of practice and meet preparation; support the educational goals and ideals of the University, and monitor and encourage academic progress of cross country student-athletes toward graduation, working in conjunction with the University's faculty, staff, and administrative officials; assist with management of budget (operate within University allocated funds or supplement by available restricted funds); assist head coach with equipment purchases (purchases of practice and game uniforms so that the colors green and white are the basic colors), equipment care and yearly inventory; assist head coach with development of game schedules under policy and budget guidelines, including preparation of event contracts for approval by the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, arrangement of transportation, meals and lodging for games off campus, and contracting of meet officials and submission of requisitions for payment; assist with the development and participation in fundraising activities subject to approval by the Assistant Athletic Director for Development; compliance with all NCAA, A-SUN, Stetson University, and Athletic Department rules, regulations and policies. Failure to comply with any of the above may result in disciplinary or corrective actions which may include suspension (with or without pay) and or termination if found to be involved in deliberate and serious violations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred. 2-5 years demonstrated college coaching experience in coaching cross country. The candidate should possess knowledge of and commitment to compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, Division I rules, standards, and regulations. Violation of these rules may result in disciplinary and/or corrective actions. Ability to pass a MVR/Background check prior to hire.
