Responsible for efficient and effective operation of the Athletic Association’s human resources unit. Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the Institution’s mission and strategic vision.
In addition to the scope and essential duties outlined, we are seeking a dynamic, experienced, human resources professional to help lead our Human Resource department (HR). This is a leadership position within the Athletic Association. This fast-paced and exciting opportunity will support operational oversight of all Athletic Association human resources activities and serve “The Georgia Way” environment that fosters excellence and experience. In collaboration with the Deputy Director for Administration the successful candidate will help develop, plan, and implement strategic human resources functions for the Athletic Association, including talent acquisition and hiring, diversity and inclusion initiatives, compensation and job classification, employee relations, professional development, and succession planning.
Directly oversee and manage all human resources functions for the Athletic Association including recruitment, reclassification, compensation, employee relations, performance management, and training and development. Responsible for facilitating excellent communications between supervisors and employees and ensuring the consistent application of Athletic Association Core Values in all processes. Serves as a member of the Deputy Athletic Director’s Senior Team.
Responsible for the quality, consistency and integrity of efforts for candidate selection and the interview process.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, BOR/USG and UGA statutes, policies and procedures and well as NCAA and SEC related policies and procedures that govern Athletic department coaches and staff.
Develop and maintain comprehensive strategic recruiting, on-boarding and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the Athletic Association.
Provide oversight for compensation, benefits and wellness, employee relations, HR business and information systems including hiring, time management systems and separation processes
Administer staff training plans and development programs, employee performance management and relations, and succession planning. Ensure employee training record-keeping and certifications are in place and available to managers.
Assist and coach managers to maximize their staff resources. Assist management with performance measurement, coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions.
Provide leadership in optimizing employee engagement and satisfaction. Maintain and develop Athletic Association policies to ensure consistency in employee processes and performance management. Responsible for supporting internal Athletic Association committees: Compliance and Risk Management, Diversity and Inclusion Council.
Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to University System of Georgia, NCAA, SEC, and Athletic Association rules and regulations

Experience in strategic HR management, leadership in talent acquisition, compensation, employee relations, and performance management is required.
Demonstrated competencies in the following areas will also be required: superior verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical skills; and a collaborative and flexible decision-making style. The candidate must have a passion for delivering high-quality service; the ability to develop and mentor staff; manage a diverse portfolio of projects; and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various levels of administration, staff, and administrators.
Graduation from an accredited college/university with a Bachelor’s degree plus ten years’ experience or a Master’s degree plus eight years’ experience in the field of Human Resources, including supervisory experience.
