SUNY Cortland Athletics Department invites application for a full-time assistant coach for the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field programs. This position has a 9.5 month obligation August 15 – May 31.
The assistant coach for track & field is responsible for assisting in all aspects of administration and operation of the competitive Division III collegiate cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field programs. Responsibilities include teaching classes in the Physical Education, Sport Management or Exercise Science programs.
To be successful in this position, the assistant coach will be able to recruit, inspire, mentor, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes; desire to teach and work with a diverse student population; support the SUNY Cortland mission, vision and campus priorities; adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of SUNY Cortland, SUNY System, SUNYAC and the NCAA; be able to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public; communicate effectively – via technology, in person, and in writing; represent the department and college in a friendly, courteous and professional manner; handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgement; be able to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner; and integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.

A Bachelor’s degree is required as well as demonstrated experience coaching at the college level.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sport Management, Exercise Science or related field. A Master’s degree in Physical Education, Sport Management, Exercise Science or related field is highly preferred.
