Position duties, responsibilities and competencies:
Conduct of the Women's Soccer program that, as a demonstration of quality and success, (1) consistently places in the top 50 percent of its conference, qualifies for conference championship play; (2) maintains an exemplary student-athlete academic success rate (95 percent graduation rate, less than 5 percent academic failure rate, 75 percent retention rate, average GPA 2.5 or better); and (3) demonstrates positive personal development of student-athletes whose behavior and public representation of SUNY Maritime College is exemplary at all times.
Directly Supervises: Assistant coach
Design and implement a training program that advances individual and team performance skills, to support the achievement of the program's purpose
Advance each student-athlete's level of knowledge with regard to sport nutrition, biomechanics, exercise science, and sport psychology as it relates to improvement of sport performance
Design a competitive schedule that maximizes athlete development and performance
Recruit high-quality athletes capable of performing at desired levels
Recruit athletes capable of completing the baccalaureate degree and performing academically at levels reflecting program objectives
Conform to the highest standards of professional conduct regarding compliance with department and institutional policies and procedures and adherence to the rules and regulations of athletic governance organizations of which the institution is a member
Demonstrate master teaching competencies with regard to (a) sport skill instruction, (b)
motivation, and (c) coaching skills during competitive events
Relate well to administrators, officials, high school coaches, parents, the media, alumni, donors, and the public
Provide strong leadership in the personal development of student-athletes as demonstrated by high standards of behavior and good public speaking skills of all team members
Demonstrate a high level of involvement in the personal and academic development of student- athletes through the support of the department's academic and personal development programs serving those student-athletes
Manage a cost-effective and administratively efficient sport program
Exhibit good writing and speaking abilities
Train and supervise assistant coaches toward the end of developing head coach capabilities and supporting all program objectives
Adhere to department policy regarding coaches code of ethics
Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all staff, student-athletes, and external constituents through (a) a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, (b) respect for the competencies of others, and (c) appropriate conflict resolution behavior
Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Physical Education:
Liaison for the Department of Athletics for all athletic facilities.
Coordinate all projects and facility usage with:
Department of Facilities
Office of Conference Services
Department of Athletics
Organize and oversee facility usage and logistics in coordination with all programs on campus.
Organize and oversee facility scheduling (Indoor & Outdoor Facilities) for all varsity programs included but not limited to: practices, games, special events and daily usage from the student body.
Oversee the fitness center weight room and cardio room.
Maintain fitness equipment and service contracts.
Organize and oversee fitness center student staff.
Inspect all athletic facilities. Maintain communication with campus facility personnel. Monitor all athletic facility projects.
Responsible for processing all fitness center and athletic facility (indoor & outdoor) work orders.
Must attend all weekly Conference Services Scheduling meetings.
To be a positive role model within both the PE department and the whole school for both students and staff.
To oversee and develop the PE department. Hire individuals with experience teaching the subject we want to offer.
Determine what classes should and can be added to the program to increase student involvement with physical education credits.
To manage the monitoring and evaluation of all aspects of work within the PE department.
To ensure that there is a positive climate for learning within the PE department.
To effectively manage teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources within the department to support the teaching and learning within the department.
To lead the development of appropriate syllabi, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment and teaching and learning strategies within the department.
To establish common standards of practice within the department and develop the effectiveness of teaching and learning styles.
To ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information and equipment concerning the department.
To ensure that all paperwork/ reports within the department are completed by the times stated and to a professional standard.

Attend all mandatory staff meetings for part time employees
Home event supervision duties as assigned if applicable
Completion of Campus Security Authority Training, HR Module Training, Van Driver Certification, NCAA Exam
All other duties assigned by the Athletic Director
Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Previous club, high school or college soccer coaching experience
Demonstrated academic success of previously coached student-athletes
Knowledge of NCAA Compliance guidelines
Excellent interpersonal, teaching and communication skills are essential
Ability to recruit student athletes, develop successful programs and maintain operations (budget, equipment ordering, NCAA eligibility, game management, etc.) is required
Possession of a valid Driver's License. Must have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violation
Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate, in addition to the above, will:
Have Women's Soccer coaching experience at the intercollegiate level
Possess a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in physical education or related area.
Coaching certification from national agency of issuance.
Exhibit prior experience with student-athlete recruitment or the evidence of potential for success in recruitment
Demonstrate evidence of ability to work well with college-age student-athletes and proven ability to perform administrative aspects of the program
Current Certification in First Aid, AED, and CPR
Classification/Salary Range: The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities & Physical Education/Head Women's Soccer Coach is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range for the position is $42,000 - $47,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package (for more information please see the UUP Benefit Summary). Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
