The Director, Athletics Advancement identifies, qualifies, cultivates, closes and stewards gifts from current and prospective donors for both Athletics and the FGCU Foundation. Coordinates all aspects for the Donor Scholarship Program in conjunction with the Associate Athletics Director for Advancement and the Vice President for Advancement & Executive Director of Foundation. Increases membership for the Eagles Club and consistent donor contact to move our current members through the development cycle will be key emphases for the position. Provides implementation of best practices to help drive revenue at fundraising events.
Essential Job Duties
Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, closes and stewards gifts from past, current and prospective donors for both Athletics and the FGCU Foundation.
Works under a ‘400 annual meaningful contacts’ model that includes 50% of contacts as face-to-face meetings. Documents with proficiency all contacts and conversations in the Donor Management Software (NXT)
Increases membership for the Eagles Club. Provides consistent donor contact to move current members through the development cycle, including identification of major gift prospects.
Coordinates all aspects of the Donor Scholarship Program in collaboration with the Associate Athletics Director for Advancement and the Vice President for Advancement & Executive Director of Foundation.
Implements best practices to help drive revenue at fundraising events. Assists in the development of strategies and goals for growth of the Eagles Club, fundraising events and other fundraising objectives.
Coordinates hospitality events in collaboration with the Eagles Club & Special Events Coordinator.
Communicates effectively with the Eagles Club Board of Advisors and general membership through various methods.
Prepares principal and major gift proposals, solicitation letters, and other cultivation and presentation materials for significant donors.
Receives cash, checks and/or credit card payment. Charges and/or reconciles Foundation or personal credit card. Must be PCI compliant.
May travel throughout the county, state, and country.
Complies with all University, ASUN Conference and/or Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) regulations as applicable, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Responsible to remain current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University, ASUN Conference and CCSA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
Four years of successful fundraising experience, with direct experience in identifying, cultivating and soliciting donors.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Must be a highly energetic professional with a record of accomplishment in building donor relationships.
Valid driver’s license.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
Experience in collegiate athletics, non-profit fundraising and/or higher education environment.
Experience planning and implementing successful special events.
