In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, manages the day-to-day NCAA compliance function of the department within the guidelines of the NCAA, the BIG EAST Conference, and DePaul University.
Responsibilities & Duties
Manage all aspects of the compliance rules eduction program for coaches, staff, student-athletes and boosters. Plan and lead monthly staff compliance meetings to educate staff and coaches regarding new rules, changes, and pending legislation. Assist coaches in preparation for annual NCAA Recruiting exam.
Oversee the completion and submission of required NCAA documents including, but not limited to squad lists, eligibility certification, Certification of compliance for Institution, Staff and Department, student-athlete statements, drug testing consent, affirmation of eligibility, graduation rates, clearinghouse request lists, sport sponsorship reporting, waiver requests.
Audit compliance processes using Compliance Assistant Software in the following areas: Recruiting, playing and practice seasons, eligibility, transfers, financial aid, awards, extra benefits, personnel.
Oversee, administer, and report on uses of NCAA funds for student-athlete use.
Manage National Letter of Intent program.
Primary contact person with the BIG EAST Conference and NCAA on all compliance matters. Serve as primary liaison with other student service departments within the university to ensure that the needs of student-athletes are met. Includes Admissions, Registrar, Housing, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, International Office, etc.
Secondary liaison with DePaul's Captains' Council.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree required.
3-5 years of similar experience.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience at the NCAA Division I level.
Supervises one to three graduate assistants, interns and student workers when available.
Manages the budget for the NCAA Special Assistance Fund and Student Opportunity Fund.
Other Skills & Abilities Required
Working knowledge of MicroSoft Office
Working knowledge of Compliance Assistant database,
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Dedication to serving the department, the University and the student-athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative and integrity.
Position requires working evening and weekend hours during school year.
