HealthFitness has an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant Director of Aquatics - Instructional Programming at our MIT client location in Cambridge, Massachusetts! In this position, you will be responsible for the planning, promoting, and management of all aquatic programs for adults, youth, and families; creating new programs, expanding existing programs, as well as coordinating other outreach efforts. As the Assistant Director, you will also be responsible for the supervision and development of the Learn To Swim instructors. The base schedule for this Full Time (40 hours per week) position will be mainly Sunday-Thursday with varied shifts that may include early mornings and evenings.
Create an excellent participant experience by delivering quality programs and services for adults, youth, and families.
Create and develop high quality aquatic classes that increase engagement.
Build positive relationships with members and participants through consistent, effective and positive communication.
Collaborate across campus and within the Cambridge community to expand services, program registration and participation.
Assist with registration and answer questions from members, program participants and staff.
Recruit, hire, train, mentor, schedule and supervise all instructor personnel to ensure safety and the quality of program development and delivery.
Assist with developing program materials and distributing program information.
Act as a liaison between Aquatic Director and Aquatic Instructors.
Attend administrative staff meetings.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Prior management experience working in aquatics, recreation, athletics, physical education or related field.
Certifications: CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Lifeguard, and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
Ability to multi-task while possessing a professional demeanor and attitude.
Two to five years of management experience working in aquatics, recreation, athletics, physical education or related field.
Experience using FileMaker Pro and Spectrum NG software.
Certifications: Certified Pool Operator, SCUBA, Lifeguard Instructor/Trainer and WSI/Trainer.
Experience managing diverse aquatic populations.
Experience working for a Collegiate or Municipal Athletic or Recreation Department, YMCA or Swim School.
Excellent verbal and written skills; and quality customer service skills required.
Experience using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience using membership/registration management software.
This position is with MIT Recreation in Cambridge, MA, managed by Health Fitness, and is a great opportunity for any Aquatic Professional looking to work in a high paced environment with a diverse community. This premier program includes a 150,000 sq. ft. facility complete with an Olympic 50m pool, Instructional 25yd pool and a satellite facility with a 25yd lap pool and instructional pool. Additional features of the facilities include, extensive fitness activity space housing cardiovascular and strength equipment, squash courts, multi-activity court and 3 additional athletic facilities housing multiple gymnasiums, an indoor track and ice rink.
