Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Business Affairs. This position will administer and manage the business and financial affairs of the department, and be responsible for facilitation and management of financial resources that may be state appropriated, contracts and grants, and/.or receipt generated. The Associate Athletic Director for Business Affairs will focus on specialized areas such as accounting, budgeting, auditing and/or grant administration, and may be assigned duties to include personnel administration/management, purchasing, inventory control, facilities coordination/planning, information technology assessment/planning and other related financial responsibilities with oversight of accounts reconciliation, maintenance and reporting of financial data, financial projections, cash/receipts management, using accounting/business standards and practices, policy interpretation/implementation, as well as university policies and procedures. .
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide considerable supervisory and management expertise on fiscal operations Train staff on best practices for customer services and delivery of successful customer service Analyze revenues and expenditure data and financial reports Adhere to audit procedures as planned, and approved and review the work carefully for completeness and accuracy Assist with negotiating business and corporate contracts for athletics to enhance general athletics budget Regularly review and provide data to assist in determining the cost associated with attendance with will compass tuition and fee charges Distinguish countable and non-countable financial aid per NCAA legislation, monitor financial aid limits of student-athletes Hold responsibility for gathering information for Appeals Committee hearings for student-athletes that have had their aid reduced, or not renewed Assess, Interpret, and apply applicable policies, procedures and guideline that have significant financial and/or operational impact on the Intercollegiate Athletic program financial data
Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Sports Administration or related field, demonstrated experience in accounting and fiscal management with 5 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data and making budget recommendations, working knowledge of, and proficiency with current office software, such as Microsoft Office, and spreadsheet programs, effective decision making, data analysis and supervisory skills are required.
