Position Summary The Softball Intern reports to the Head Softball Coach and may have a second report relative to an assigned secondary duty. The primary tasks are to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the program including: plan practices and game strategies, game day responsibilities and recruiting student athletes in concert with the academic mission of the University. In addition, a secondary responsibility will be assigned that could include: game management, intramurals and club sports, facilities management or strength and conditioning. The maximum length of the intern position is three years. Specific Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in the following:
Identifying and recruiting academically qualified student-athletes
Both off-campus and on-campus recruiting efforts
Developing and conducting organized practices
Game day responsibilities
Counseling student-athletes in a positive manner and serving as a positive role model to all SU students on a daily basis.
Adhere to all NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations
Develop positive rapport with athletics staff as well as the entire SU community
Represent the University to various constituents in a professional manner
Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach
Perform the secondary duty as assigned.
Required Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Evidence of positive attitude and the ability to get along well with others required. A valid driver's license is required. Desire to pursue coaching is expected. Education Minimum Bachelor's Degree. Physical Demand Must have the energy and enthusiasm and mobility to actively coach the sport. Frequent running, walking, bending, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds.
