The Office of the University Registrar serves as the liaison amongst University constituents to ensure compliance with academic policies, procedures, and deadlines. The Academic Eligibility and Certification Specialist will serve as the certifying official for academic eligibility of entering freshmen student-athletes, transfer student-athletes, and continuing student-athletes. The incumbent will work closely with Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes, Academic Advisors within the Schools, and the Athletic Compliance Office regarding National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) academic rules and regulations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Determining student-athlete eligibility for practice and competition - Serving as the certification official with regards to NCAA initial eligibility, transfer eligibility, and continuing eligibility - Monitoring student-athlete reinstatement - Preparing and submitting the institution’s annual NCAA reports
The ability to interpret, explain, and apply NCAA and ACC rules and regulations, in conjunction with University policy is essential. This position also includes the maintenance of athletic records related to certification of student-athletes according to applicable policies, laws, and regulations. This position will require frequent interaction with the Department of Athletics, Faculty Athletic Representative, admission and advising offices in the Schools, and other administrative offices on campus. Preference will be given to candidates with NCAA eligibility experience.
