Head Coach - Women's Soccer University of Massachusetts Lowell Full-Time, Benefited Non-Union
The Head Coach of Women’s Soccer is responsible for leading all aspects of developing and managing a competitive Division I program within the parameters designated by the University, America East Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Essential Job Duties: 1.Oversee all aspects of student-athlete development and performance of Division I soccer program:
Organizing, recruitment/evaluation of student-athletes
Conducting and supervising practices and player conditioning
Optimizing technology (e.g. scouting, recruiting)
Preparing and implementing game strategies
Mentoring and providing appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes
Creating an environment that supports student-athlete welfare 2.Manage administrative functions within the intercollegiate soccer program:
Participating in departmental, conference and NCAA meetings as required
Adhering to all conference and NCAA rules/requirements
Preparing and executing strategic plan for program
Developing competitive competition schedule
Forecasting and managing budget needs relevant to equipment, scheduling, recruiting, travel, etc.
Following University and Athletics Department policies and procedures
Complete and pass annual NCAA Recruiting Exam 3.Provide supervision and direction to the staff directly associated with program:
Hiring and retaining quality assistant coaches
Appropriately delegating responsibilities to assistant coaches
Supervising all aspects of work performance of assistant coaches
Providing necessary leadership and staff development
Administering performance evaluations
Collaborating with Sports Performance, Academic Coordinators and Athletic Health Care staff 4.Serve as a University Ambassador by:
Engaging in fundraising efforts for program
Representing the Department of Athletics at designated University, conference, departmental and community functions
Building alumni and other external relationships
Promoting participation and committing to community outreach
Promote the University’s commitment to customer service by:
Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.
Other Job Duties:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Minimum 5 years’ successful experience in soccer coaching, recruiting and administration experience in a college or university setting
Commitment to ensure compliance with all NCAA and University rules and regulations.
Knowledge of techniques and strategies of the sport
Commitment to high ethical standards and academic success
Demonstrated success in recruiting nationally
Experience working effectively in diverse environments
Strong organizational skills
Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student-athlete welfare
Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
