The University of Bridgeport seeks applicants for the full-time position of Head Coach for Women's Basketball/Cross-Country. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Head Coach Women's Basketball/Cross-Country is a 12- month/year round renewable position responsible for directing and implementing all aspects of the women's basketball and women's cross-country program that challenge and support student athletes to reach their full potential in athletic excellence, academics and leadership development.
Position responsibilities include the direction of team development, training and strategy in practice and competition and recruitment of prospective student who will thrive at the University of Bridgeport. The head coach is responsible for building a competitive schedule, management of the team budget, driving the team van and maintenance of equipment. The selected candidate will ensure compliance with NCAA Division II East Coast Conference and University of Bridgeport regulations as well as supervise the assistant coach and/or graduate assistant.
Minimal Requirements: Candidates should have 3-5 years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate level; Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred; CPR/AED certification and a thorough understanding and passion for coaching basketball and cross-country.
The selected candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in coaching with a strong commitment to NCAA, DII philosophy. Excellent communication skills (written and oral), including the ability to positively motivate student-athletes and prospective recruits. A willingness to fundraise is required.
Candidate must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record in accordance with the University of Bridgeport Driving Requirements and Driver Safety Policy. Candidate must be available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends and have the ability to travel.
