Under the direction of the Head Women’s Rowing Coach, the Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach will support and enhance the mission of the San Diego State University Athletic Department. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the direction of the Women’s Rowing program, performing a variety of coaching functions related to the sport of women’s rowing in the Athletic Department. These coaching functions include, but are not limited to the following: recruiting, administration, coaching, counseling, teaching, staging, fundraising, and public services.
Three years of collegiate rowing experience.
One year of coaching experience at the high school, club, collegiate and/or national team level.
Must have and maintain a good driving record. Must be able to obtain the following certifications within 60 days of hire:
American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR.
American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid.
Mission Bay Aquatic Center California Boating Safety Course.
Must obtain a California driver's license within 10 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Ability to drive a shell trailer.
Proven success in coaching at the high school, club, collegiate, and /or national level.
Experience as part of an NCAA Division I women's rowing team as a student-athlete and/ or coach.
Demonstrated understanding of high performance rowing as shown through success as a rower/coxswain and/or as a rowing coach.
Additional Salary Information: This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before 06/30/2019, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Incumbent works 10 months per year and is paid over 12 months. Anticipated month(s) off will be December 8, 2018, through January 7, 2019; and June of 2019.
