Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Tutor Coordinator/Academic Advisor (Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1). This position administrates and delivers a College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certified one-on-one peer tutoring program and a strategy-based Guided Study program. Additionally, this position serves as the University advisor for assigned first and second year student-athletes. The incumbent must possess strong interpersonal skills to develop comprehensive academic plans for a diverse group of students.

Minimum Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year?for?year basis. Demonstrated work experience with tutoring coordination and management.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years’ experience teaching, counseling, advising and/or tutor coordination in a collegiate setting. Advanced degree in education or related area. Experience with tutoring software systems (i.e.: SSC Campus). Work experience that demonstrates an ability to work with students, coaches, administrators, university programs and staff in a broad range of situations. Experience that demonstrates genuine concern and interest for welfare of student-athletes and the ability to work with a diverse student population. Work experience that demonstrates excellent communication and report writing skills, and the ability to initiate and complete projects with specific deadlines. Work experience that demonstrates the ability to tutor a wide range of university courses. Experience that demonstrates ability to recruit, train and manage an NCAA Division I tutoring program.
