Working in close coordination with members of the Athletic Media Relations staff, the Assistant AD of Marketing & Promotions, and the College’s Marketing & Communications staff, implement and execute social media content to build and maintain the Athletic Department’s digital footprint on various social platforms, thereby providing maximum external exposure for the department and the College.
.Assist the Athletic Communications and Marketing/Promotions staff in the development and execution of a social media plan for the department. Meet on a weekly basis to create short-term and long-term plans for execution of social media content for the general department accounts and select team/sport specific accounts (with emphasis on high-profile teams such as basketball and ice hockey).
.Using various technologies available, such as PhotoShop, BoxOut Sports, and SnappyTV, create visual elements to be used on the department’s general social media accounts to promote the department and its 19 varsity athletic programs. Provide content for awards/honors earned by student-athletes from the conference, in addition to regional and national organizations.
.Assist with the education of coaches, staff members, and student-athletes on social media best practices. Research and setup educational sessions conducted by professionals and/or organizations that will provide our coaches, staff, and student-athletes with tools to maintain positive social media profiles and best practices. Assist Athletic Media Relations and Athletic Marketing/Promotions in providing in-house educational opportunities and training to other areas that don’t receive professional training. Set up internal meetings with coaches and/or staff members and provide suggestions for content that members of the coaching staff will be responsible for.
.Attend select events and games to provide a real-time social media presence for the department, College, and teams, in addition to executing a pre-determined plan for each particular event/game.
.Assist with chronicling experiences of our teams/student-athletes/coaches when they qualify for and compete in post-season play (BIG EAST, Hockey East, NCAA Tournament) on social media. Create graphics and real-time photos and videos of experiences to provide followers with information related to post-season play and a behind-the-scenes experience.
