Bethune-Cookman University, a Division I member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, located in Daytona Beach, Florida, announces a search for a Head Baseball Coach. This is a full-time 12-month coaching position with responsibilities including but not limited to: coaching, recruiting, management of staff and student-athletes, budgeting and planning. The position also involves promotions, development of a summer camp program, effective practice and game condition teaching, monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes in conjunction with departmental, university, MEAC and NCAA rules, and mentoring. The coach will also serve as an ambassador for Bethune-Cookman University. The head coach will be responsible for the total management of the baseball program at Bethune-Cookman University with a direct line of reporting to the director of intercollegiate athletics. Additional responsibilities include: developing the seasonal schedule for submission and approval of the director of athletics; supervising the maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies and maintaining an environment of ethical and moral behavior of all the student-athletes and staff of the baseball program. The head coach will also be responsible for participating in university approved fundraising to assist in the mission of the institution and will be readily available to participate in press conferences, workshops and speaking engagements on behalf of the university.
A minimum of three years’ collegiate baseball head or assistant coaching experience (preferably at the NCAA Division I level) and strong interpersonal skills is a must. Proven collegiate baseball recruiting experience also required. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator, be passionate about teaching baseball and life skills, and must possess tremendous leadership traits. Excellent oral, written, organizational and managerial skills are necessary. The ability to work in a culturally diverse, Christian environment is also required.
