Illinois State University, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference and Missouri Valley Football Conference, is seeking a qualified candidate for the part-time, extra-help, position of Post Graduate Intern, Athletics Study Center. This position reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics and Life Skills. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: conduct targeting meetings with freshman, transfer and academically at-risk student-athletes, providing day-to-day guidance related to specific classes, study skills, organization, prioritization and time management; create and prepare academic reports for academic coordinators, coaches and Sr. Associate AD for Academics and Life Skills describing the academic performance of assigned student-athletes throughout the semester; monitor and Supervise Athletic Study Center to facilitate an environment conducive to learning; other duties as assigned, which may include project management in relation to the honor roll and special events coordinated by the Athletics Study Center; work with the CHAMPS/Life Skills program and Community Service program; assist with class checking; assist with the daily operations of the Karin L. Bone Athletic Study Center; evening and weekend hours will be required; attend professional development trainings on a variety of ISU, conference, and NCAA topics. As a part of your responsibilities, you will follow the regulations and guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Missouri Valley Conference, the Missouri Valley Football conference, the Summit League, the Athletics Department and Illinois State University.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any field; demonstrated strong desire to obtain full-time employment in student-athlete academic support and/or development; demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; demonstrated computer skills including Excel. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree; preference given to candidates who have completed a relevant graduate assistantship; outstanding leadership skills; organizational/time-management skills; oral and written communications skills; sincere desire to see student-athletes succeed in the academic arena.
