The Department of Athletics, Health, and Physical Education at the University of Mary Washington, an NCAA Division III institution located in Fredericksburg, VA, invites applications for a full-time Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach to begin in the fall of 2018. Head coaches are hired as full-time continuing members of the faculty at the rank of Lecturer with the potential of a promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer after five years. Completion of a Master’s degree is required by August 15, 2018.
UMW is a liberal arts and sciences university dedicated to the cultivation of the student athlete model as one of our many high-impact learning practices. The head swimming coach will be responsible for all facets of the program, including, but not limited to, recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes, academic performance of student athletes, overseeing team budget and travel, fundraising, overseeing assistant coaches, practice and meet preparation and other duties as assigned. The head coach will also be responsible for teaching courses within the department of Athletics, Health, and Physical Education and is required to be CPR, 1st Aid, and life guard certified with a preference being instructor certified in those three areas. As members of the teaching faculty, head coaches play a role in service to the College of Arts and Sciences as well as the university.
