This incumbent will provide support to the head coach in maintaining a highly competitive and successful athletic program develop in a manner compatible with the department and University philosophy, and in compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Aid coaches in all aspects of developing and maintaining a competitive intercollegiate sport program within the NCAA and NSIC rules and regulations. •Instruct and teach student athletes in the fundamentals of sport technique and strategy, with preference to those with hitting and/or outfield expertise. •Plan and execute practice and competition plans including the evaluation of opponents. •Aid in effort to plan, conduct or assist in clinics, camps and other departmental community events •Seek knowledge and understanding of current softball trends. •Perform administrative responsibilities, including assisting in budget planning and management, scheduling of competitions and planning and executing team travel. •Assist in monitoring the academic performance of student athletes to help them achieve full potential. •Aid coaches in evaluating and recruiting qualified student athletes to UMD and the organization of recruiting events including on-campus official recruiting visits and game-day visits. •Provide opportunities for student athletes to develop life and leadership skills. •Commit to adhering to all rules and regulations of the Department, the University, our Conference affiliations and the NCAA. •Support the UMD athletics mission of excellence in the Classroom, Community and Competition •Other duties as assigned
You will paid a total of $14,000 for the appointment that starts on June 11, 2018 and ends June 9, 2019.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university within the past two years
2 years minimum experience coaching at the high school, collegiate or professional level
2 years minimum playing experience
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment
Demonstrated ability to communicate both written and verbally
Experience in working with diverse populations
