The primary function of this job is to ensure that our institution and student athletes are adhering to the policies and procedures established by the NCAA & Conference Carolinas, as well as act as a liaison between the NCAA & Conference Carolinas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1)Monitor and report violations as they occur to the appropriate NCAA authorities. 2)Work with the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, and Admissions to evaluate and monitor the eligibility of prospective student athletes, including transfers, as specified by NCAA and conference guidelines, and create and send all NLI’s and GIA’s. 3)Work with the Financial Aid office to monitor that all athletes meet financial-aid guidelines as set forth by the NCAA. 4)Evaluate and monitor recruiting procedures, including official and unofficial visits, dead periods, and contact by coaches and other representatives of the college’s athletics interest. 5)Evaluate and monitor student athlete eligibility as specified by NCAA and conference guidelines, including academic regulations and amateurism. 6)Educate the student athletes, athletic staff, institutional staff, and other representatives of the college’s athletics interest on the NCAA DII and Conference rules and regulations. Conduct staff rules seminars reviewing governing legislation and student-athlete compliance meetings. 7)Develop and provide appropriate forms to coaches and athletes in regard to any necessary paperwork required by the NCAA or as a useful institutional tool. 8)Work with the Faculty Athletic Representative in maintaining the academic integrity of the athletic department as well as coordinate the administration of the annual rules test. 9)Contribute to student-athletes’ success through coordinating study hall, monitoring grades and class schedules, progress-toward degree requirements, evaluating tutoring needs, and communicating with professors. 10)Maintain eligibility checklists and submit to the conference when changes occur. 11)Track all countable athletic related activities for all sports through practice logs submitted monthly by the coaches. 12)Maintaining appointed memberships on committees as the Athletic Director sees fit. 13)Complete all NCAA Reports and maintain appropriate records according to NCAA regulations. 14)Maintain compliance with the College’s Service Expectations. 15)Athletic department budget responsibilities. 16)Athletic transportation. 17)General office management duties.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years NCAA compliance experience or related collegiate athletic experience considered
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making abilities
Preferred knowledge of NCAA Regional Rules Training
Requires working after normal hours throughout the year.
Ability to travel once a year to NCAA Regional Rules and/or NCAA Convention.
