Position Information Job Title - Head Coach, Women's Tennis
Job Description This position will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Notre Dame Women's Tennis Program within established University and NCAA guidelines.
• Teach and develop techniques, skills and strategies that will assist student-athletes in competing at the highest level and support them in maximizing their potential academically and athletically. • Plan, schedule and implement team practices using individualized and group training. Schedule, oversee and monitor all aspects of sports performance including training and conditioning. • Direct, train, review and develop assistant and volunteer coaches in functions of coaching and recruiting. • Recruit potential student-athletes by identifying, contacting, visiting, observing and evaluating candidates. • Collect appropriate statistical achievements including the collection of academic data. Closely monitor academic status of current student-athletes on a regular basis with the counsel of Academic Services for Student-Athletes. Adjust practice and competition plans to satisfy academic requirements of student-athletes. • Ensure adherence to NCAA and University rules for players, coaches and staff by following policies and maintaining current knowledge of all NCAA rules. Understand the importance of NCAA ‘head coach control' and manage the Women's Tennis Program accordingly. Develop and implement a Time Management Plan in accordance with NCAA rules. Comply with conference rules where applicable. • Plan and manage a team budget which takes into account program operations as well as team, coach and recruiting travel. Manage athletics grants-in-aid available to the fully-funded Women's Tennis Program. Organize and oversee team apparel and equipment. Oversee team travel arrangements. • Participate in television, radio and newspaper interviews as directed. Represent the University through appropriate public relations guidance. Maintain positive relationships and interactions with campus constituents and with the community through guest appearances, alumni visits, outings and other appropriate engagements.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 5 years of collegiate and/or professional coaching experience is required. Knowledge of NCAA/ACC rules and regulations is a necessity. Ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills used to represent the University, student-athletes and staff in a positive manner; strong administrative skills in order to plan, organize and implement a quality team and program; as well as diagnostic and strategy techniques needed to prepare student-athletes for competition.
Preferred Qualifications Division I head coach experience preferred.
