POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Baseball Coach will help foster a distinctive culture in competitive athletics that commissions student-athletes to impact the world for Christ. The primary purpose is to support the head coach’s involvement in coaching and to coordinate/instruct, in and out of season, pitching staff. Examples of support would be in the areas of practice instruction, recruitment, camp/clinic organization, scouting, weight training, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: •Baseball skill instruction and development •Strive to reflect the Athletic Department core values: Christ-centered, Excellence, Integrity, Community, and Humility. Offer ongoing support to develop a culture that emphasizes these values. •Assist in the administration and organization of baseball camps/clinics •Mentor and spiritually motivate our players •Attend high school games, club tournaments •Establish practice plans, game plans and develop game clips for varsity team •Coordinate recruitment •Establish communication with alumni •Monitor player weight-training program •Represent our department by being a quality instructor on the field •Attend coaching clinics •Run practices •Organize inventory •Communicate with high school coaches and alumni •Coordinate MIS trips •Maintain a commitment to NCAA, Conference, and University rule compliance. •Report any NCAA, Conference, and University rule violations to the compliance coordinator. •Understand that violations of NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. •Other duties assigned by the head coach •Facility prep •Out of season game management
QUALIFICATIONS: • BA degree required, Masters preferred. • Previous coaching experience preferred at college level • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with coaches, student-athletes, parents and others • Knowledge of NCAA DI or DII preferred either as athlete or coach • Self-motivated with initiative and work ethic • Ability to work with limited supervision • Have access to/use of a personal vehicle • Show: Enthusiasm, Dependability, Creativity, Motivated, Flexible, Integrity
