The University of Wyoming Athletics Department is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Assistant Media Relations Director. The Assistant Media Relations Director will be responsible for publicizing assigned sports within the University of Wyoming Athletics Department.
The Assistant Media Relations Director will work together with the Associate Athletics Director for Media Relations, Office Manager, the Directors of Media Relations and Assistant Media Relations Director in publicizing the overall athletics department. Salary is commensurate with experience. Flexibility and willingness to work weekend and evening events is expected of all candidates. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or a related field is required A minimum of two years of experience working in a college athletics media relations/sports information office as a graduate assistant or full-time employee is required Experience writing, editing and designing press releases and media guides and working with social media is required Experience managing press operations at home athletic events Experience arranging interviews between media, coaches and student-athletes Proficiency in Adobe Suite software, including InDesign desktop publishing software and Adobe Photoshop, as well as with Microsoft Word software Desired Qualifications Work experience in an NCAA Division I media relations/sports information office is preferred Experience creating and updating website content preferably with is desired Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and ongoing deadlines is needed Extensive experience with StatCrew software packages for a variety of sports is highly desirable Two years or more experience in the following: writing, editing and designing press releases and media guides and working with social media managing press operations at home athletic events experience arranging interviews between media, coaches and student-athletes ability to effectively manage multiple projects and ongoing deadlines Required Materials Complete on-line application and upload the following as one document: cover letter, a current resume, work examples and a list of three references.
