Under the direction of the Head Softball Coach this position will assist in the development and implementation of recruitment and enrollment goals for students. Actively participate in the all recruiting events including maintaining written and oral communications with prospective students. Development of recruitment materials, facilitate recruitment efforts by faculty and enroll and advise students.

Assist in developing programs utilizing human performance standards to maintain, enhance, and protect the fitness and health of our softball participants including analysis and development of curriculum to educate and train athletes. (20%)
Assist Head Coach with analyzing performance, assessing student fitness needs, developing and regulating program content, and instructing athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for competition. (10%)
Observe the players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement and instruct in areas of deficiency. (10%)
Implement treatment plans involving nutrition, fitness analysis, body composition, physical and massage therapy. (15%)
Teach the fundamentals of pitching, hitting, and defense while advising and monitoring academic progress of student athletes. (10%)
Coordinate the strength and conditioning program for student athletes; (10%)
Plan and organize softball therapy and physical fitness programs for student athletes. (15%)
Coordinate scouting, recruiting and evaluation of high school and junior college student-athletes. (5%)
Commit to and assume responsibility for adhering to all NJCAA rules and regulations set forth for the team, the college, and the conference with integrity. (5%)
The Assistant Softball Coach is involved in defining appropriate exercise and training guidelines for softball participants, integrating principles of athletics and physical education into specifically defined exercise disciplines for player development. Most importantly, an inaccurate evaluation and the inappropriate application of these performance standards, exercise guidelines, and exercise disciplines place team members at significant risk for health complications and may subject the department and college to risk for the consequences thereof.
Additional Instructor duties may be assigned to include course development, instruction, and advisement of students within the athletic department, and serving as a resource to the department and college. Actual instruction assignments vary from year-to-year depending on student enrollments and resource allocations.
Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well with computers.
Must be a confident public speaker, and communicate well with athletes, parents, and coaches.
Must maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
Coached or played at Junior College level.
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science and Coaching, Fitness and Health Promotion, or a related program or the equivalent of same is, therefore, an essential for entry into this position.
Possess physical stamina to coach and demonstrate the sport and perform the duties outlined above.
Ability to work long hours, on the field, on the road, and in the office
Ability to do any physical work assigned.
