The Department is seeking an individual with experience in working within a community of diverse students and colleagues. Successful candidates will by their administrative, professional skills, leadership and service demonstrate they can contribute to the diversity and excellence of athletics, the department and our community. This is a full-time 10 month position with benefits. Position funded through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority & Women Grant program.
Responsibilities: Under supervision by the Associate Director, the coordinator will: Serve as event manager for various intercollegiate events in the fall, winter and spring; manage student and professional event staff for intercollegiate events, including budgeting, hiring, training, assigning, and serving as a mentor for student workers. Attend and actively participate in bi-weekly Athletic Operations meetings. Serve as Tournament/Invitational Director for select events hosted by Wellesley College. Support and assist with planning, logistics and execution of special events in all areas of the department. Assist with general facility management and supervision.
Under supervision by the Assistant Facilities Director, the coordinator will: Assist with team ordering, serve as secondary liaison with Wellesley College Facilities department, and manage all department wide internal work orders. In addition, provide excellent customer service for the Keohane Sports Center including greeting incoming users, distributing equipment as needed, processing memberships, including use of cash register, accurate and timely information dissemination and additional responsibilities as assigned. This position includes oversight of laundry and uniform functions including laundering towels used by members and athletes, managing inventory of incoming uniform pieces and preparation for next contest, managing the packing of team bags as needed and notifying senior front desk staff of issues with athletic team uniforms, bags, or return procedures.
Anticipated Start Date is August 13, 2018 This is a 10-month, benefits eligible position that is funded for two years.
Bachelor’s degree required. American Red Cross CPR/AED certification must be current upon hiring. The ability to relate and communicate with students, department members, the public and colleagues is essential. The candidate should have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic, and possess the ability to multi-task and work autonomously. Must be able to work night and weekends. Must be available July 26-27th for Orientation at the NCAA offices in Indianapolis. The successful candidate will have to complete a background check as a condition of employment.
