The Division of University Advancement at Louisiana Tech University is accepting applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Development.
Duties and Responsibilities: Through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, secure private support for the athletic programs of the University from alumni, friends, corporations, and other sources, with emphasis on major gifts of $10,000 or more; Collaborate with the University Foundation fund raising program, identify, cultivate, and solicit members for major gift societies such as Golden Bulldogs, and manage the stewardship of these donors; Provide broad oversight for the operations of the Louisiana Tech Athletic Club and the Lettermen’s Club activities and provide direct supervision for the Coordinator of Athletic Advancement, the Director of LTAC, and the LTAC Graduate Assistant; In cooperation with the development team, oversee the major athletic fund raising events and stewardship events, including the Bradshaw-Brooks golf tournament and recognition events for major donors. Assist the Athletic Development Team with athletic capital improvement campaigns; In consultation with the Athletic Director and Vice President for University Advancement, identify appropriate strategies and events for building affinity for Louisiana Tech athletics among a wide spectrum of donors and potential donors, with particular emphasis on events that are coordinate with the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association; Provide ongoing development efforts with each NCAA sports team of the University, coordinating with the coaching staffs and the Athletic Director; Other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for University Advancement and the Athletic Director.
Purpose of the Position: To plan and execute the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of alumni, friends, corporations and other sources for private support that benefits the athletic programs of Louisiana Tech University.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, 3-5 years successful fundraising experience in education/athletics fund raising, experience in conducting successful personal solicitations for annual and major gifts, ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exhibit professionalism, ability to oversee multiple projects, demonstrated competence in oral and written communication, effective collaboration skills, and proficiency with basic office software and the ability to quickly learn function-specific software – proficiency with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge software preferred.
Essential Functions of Job: To coordinate the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of alumni, friends, corporations and other sources for significant support of the athletic programs of the University; to coordinate with the Athletic Director and Vice President for University Advancement to plan and implement strategies and events that develop affinity and support for the athletic programs of Louisiana Tech among all the constituent groups of the University, and to provide development functions for each NCAA sport and for special programs and campaigns.
Supervisory Responsibility: Director of Louisiana Tech Athletic Club (LTAC), Coordinator of Athletic Advancement, and LTAC graduate assistant; To coordinate the activities of this position, which include broad-based solicitations, communication and stewardship, and to coordinate those activities with the major gifts efforts.
