North Park University, a NCAA DIII member of the CCIW (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant, Men’s and Women’s Track & Field/Cross-Country for the 2018-2019 school year. The two-year assistantships begin in August 2018 and include tuition remission, a meal plan, and an annual stipend.
Job Description: Two GA positions are available. The successful candidate will assist the head track and field and cross-country coaches in all aspects of the overall program, including but not limited to: event coaching (practice and competition), recruiting, retention, academic monitoring, fund-raising, home-meet management, travel and other duties as assigned by the head coach. The ideal candidate for the first position will have competitive and/or coaching experience in the throwing events (javelin, discus, shot put, hammer and weight throw). The ideal candidate for the second position will have competitive and/or coaching experience in the sprints, hurdles or jumping events. Complete other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Associate Athletic Directors.
Job Requirements: The candidate must have the ability to effectively recruit and retain quality student-athletes. The ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and electronic forms with recruits, current student-athletes and fellow coaches is vitally important. The candidate must actively support the mission of the university, athletics department and track and field/cross-country program. Applicants must be able to work an untraditional work schedule (i.e. frequent nights and weekends). A bachelor’s degree is required. Successful candidates must apply and be accepted into the graduate school at North Park University and have a personal commitment to North Park’s mission of Christian higher education. A valid driver’s license is required.
