Ottawa University, Kansas (NAIA) seeks a Head Baseball Coach for an opening at the end of the season. The head coach will be responsible for developing, organizing and leading all phases of the baseball program including the recruitment of student-athletes to a liberal arts institution that places a high priority on academics and diversity. The position will report directly to the Director of Athletics. Additional responsibilities with this position will be assigned by the Director of Athletics and the Dean of Instruction which may include teaching, or administrative responsibilities as needs and strengths are identified.
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree highly preferred. Qualified candidates must have significant and successful coaching and competitive experience, preferably at the collegiate level with head coaching experience highly preferred.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the game and possess an established recruiting network. Top candidates for the position will have strong teaching and evaluative skills, and possess interpersonal skills that translate well to establishing strong and meaningful coach-player relationships, as well as a cohesive team atmosphere. The selected candidate will be expected to hold players to consistently high standards and will be committed to creating a positive student-athlete experience both on and off the field.
It is required that all qualified applicants have a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence, and will be dedicated to instilling the Champions of Character values into their coaching style and expectations of players. A valid driver's license and driving record which meets institutional requirements is also required.
