Sporting Springfield is seeking to hire a Director of Coaching. The position is extremely important to the long term success of player development within our club. This is a full-time salaried position. The position will include flexible working hours, but will also require you to work nights and weekends during the season. Committed to working a non-traditional work schedule (20 to 25hr/week in office & 20 to 25hr/week at fields). The ideal Director of Coaching will have the following attributes and be involved in the following areas of player development and club functions:
Required Criteria: USSF C License and be on track for an upcoming USSF B License Course 3-5 years of youth club experience (Director experience preferred) Quality presentation skills, with proficiency using Microsoft Office
Characteristics: Communication skills with a high attention to detail Ability to Maintain positive relationships with all staff and surrounding community Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative Excellent organizational and time management skills Dedicated to self-improvement and personal development Represent club in exceptional way at all times Good troubleshooter and strong parent management skills Flexible Passionate about the sport for both male and female soccer development Has an understanding of soccer in other markets and a pulse on state, regional, and national competition Ability to see the 1/3/5 year plan in soccer in the midwest and US Relationship centered Ability to stay neutral and see both sides of a situation Good base of soccer knowledge- focused on making kids better Approachable
On field Responsibilities: Follow the club’s methodology and training philosophy, and develop it further Attend games/practices for evaluation & education purposes – have a pulse on current events Provide specific feedback & pathway for growth of coaches on a regular basis. Be available to coach games and practices in case of conflicts Individualize programs, identifying needs to progress the development of top talents Team coaching as assigned (1-3 teams)
Off field Responsibilities: Design and present professional development opportunities for coaches Conduct coach education clinics and seminars Be involved with strategic planning for the entire club Maintain the integrity and culture of the club at all times Participate in all required staff and coach meetings Assist and promote all club functions and events
Maintain regular office hours
Assist in league, tournament, and player registrations and social medial/website platforms Development of camps and clinics opportunities Attract, retain and develop coaches with an emphasis on building a positive club culture Additional responsibilities based on specific candidate's strengths and qualifications

Sporting Springfield is the premier competitive soccer club in southwest Missouri. The parent company, Springfield Sports Club is a 501.C.3 nonprofit, self-supporting organization. Sporting Springfield has a current membership of over 500 youth players aged 9-19, with 40 teams playing in local (Lake Country Soccer), state (St Louis Youth, KC Heartland), and regional (Midwest Regional League) leagues and tournaments. In addition, Sporting Springfield also has a Juniors Program for 4-6 year olds where members learn the game of soccer from an experienced and licensed coaching staff in line with a club wide philosophy and methodology.
Sporting Springfield is fully committed to offering playing opportunities to every player that wants to be in the club. We are the only area club with Missouri Youth Soccer State Champions (6), USYS Midwest Region Champions (1), College All-Americans, US Club Regional Champions (1), Midwest Regional League Champions (6), and we have our very own indoor training facility with two small sided fields. We have had two ...players called into USYNT camps/rosters, and one player playing USL pro. Nine players have made the jump to USSDA programs (7 to MLS and 2 to USL programs).
