Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking applicants for Assistant Women's Soccer Coach to assist in the coaching and training of student-athletes at the NCAA Division I level in the sport of women's soccer to prepare them for competition in local, regional and national arenas.
Position primary purpose and general responsibilities include:
recruitment and evaluation of academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes;
assisting with planning and implementation of team and individual strategies and tactics in the execution of game preparation methods and techniques;
maintenance of accurate files of current and prospective student-athletes and required NCAA, A10, and University paperwork;
assisting with travel involved with recruitment, games/matches, and tournaments;
assisting with monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes;
analyzing film and scouting opponents; and
promoting execution of the Athletic Department’s strategic plan by adhering to its mission and core values and acting upon its goals and strategies.
Minimum hiring standards include:
A bachelor’s degree;
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU;
Valid Driver’s License; and
Knowledge of NCAA, A10, and University regulations regarding NCAA women’s soccer.
Preferred hiring standards include:
Two (2) years experience recruiting and/or coaching soccer at the collegiate level; and
Experience with recruiting and video match analysis software systems.
