Position Summary and Responsibilities
Vassar College invites applications for the position of Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time benefits eligible ten-month position. The individual will report to the Director of Sports Medicine. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required.
Responsible for working with the Director of Sports Medicine in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses of student-athletes
Assisting in the daily health care of student-athletes and athletic training room operation
Recording and maintaining appropriate medical records for treatment given
Daily practice coverage and travel responsibilities
Assisting with the scheduling of appointments for treatment and the coordination of health insurance related processes
Supervise student-workers and clinical instruction of athletic training students as an affiliate site preceptor program conducted at Vassar College
Vassar College athletics programs are conducted in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations of Vassar College, the NCAA and the Liberty League.
Qualifications Required Qualifications Earned Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, NATABOC Certification, State of New York Licensure/Certificate (must have prior to employment); minimum of 1-3 years experience; Prior successful experience in the field with evidence of the ability to relate well to students, department members, and colleagues and a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license, official academic transcript(s) and the successful result of a background check are also mandatory. The athletic event schedule requires working on weekends and evenings and limited travel.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in related field; 3-5 years experience at the collegiate level; the ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, strong rehabilitation skills, ability to multi-task, demonstrated ability to work independently, clear understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in ATS injury software is preferred.
