GRADUATE ASSISTANT- COMPLIANCE AND ACADEMIC SERVICES - Missouri Western State University, an NCAA Division II institution located in St. Joseph, MO, is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Compliance and Academic Services. This position will assist the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Sports Administration and the Director of Academic Services with compliance, academics and student-athlete development responsibilities for the 16 NCAA Division II sports MWSU sponsors. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to; working with various athletic dept. and institutional entities to ensure compliance with institutional, NCAA and conference regulations; monitoring recruiting and playing/practice sessions; assisting with the NCAA initial-eligibility process, compliance education efforts; overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Workman Academic Center; assisting with the monitoring of continuing eligibility requirements, the academic mentoring program, and with the student-athlete development and annual community engagement activities. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission); interest in and willingness to work with student-athletes, coaches, athletic administrators; ability to effectively communicate through oral, written and electronic forms; and must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends. PREFERRED: Prior experience in a NCAA compliance office and/or athletics academic support office; and knowledge of NCAA Division II legislation. This position begins mid-July, concludes mid-May, and can be extended for a second year based on academic and administrative performance evaluation. A stipend of $5000 (paid monthly over 10 months) and full graduate school tuition covering an average of 9 credit hours per semester if provided.
