Summary: Two graduate assistant strength and conditioning positions are available beginning in August 2018. A June 2018 start is negotiable if TAMUK graduate admission is secured prior to this date. Lead positions are available for the sports of women’s basketball and softball. Finalists will also assist with the sports of football, baseball, men’s and women’s track-field and cross country.
Duties include but are not limited to guiding student-athletes through a regimen of exercises to optimize performance and decrease injury potential; oversight of sport-specific conditioning programs, teaching proper weight lifting, speed, agility and conditioning techniques; scheduling athletic teams and supervising workouts of student-athletes. The successful candidate(s) will ensure compliance with NCAA, LSC, TAMUK and TAMUS policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Graduate Assistant Scholarship: Positions include a scholarship to cover tuition and fees (i.e. not to exceed 18 semester credit hours per calendar year), 10 meals per week (i.e. on campus), and a $200 per month housing stipend.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in kinesiology or related discipline concentrating in exercise science or equivalent preferred. 1 year of experience training student-athletes at the collegiate level. CSCS certification. Candidates must be proficient in the instruction, assessment, evaluation, and supervision of multiple weight lifting techniques.
