ROLE of the POSITION
This senior executive position will serve as a member of the Executive Staff and Senior Staff and will effectively and efficiently lead and administer the operations of an effective and efficient athletic compliance program.
Responsibilities will include: assessment, implementation and management of an operative rules education program; representation for the Director of Athletics in the area of NCAA and MWC compliance and enforcement issues; coordinate review from NCAA and MWC; maintain expert knowledge of NCAA, MWC, federal and institutional rules and regulations; ensure potential violations of NCAA and MWC rules are thoroughly investigated and reported properly; approve quarterly tracker to Director of Athletics, Faculty Athletic Representative, and University President; Serve as liaison to NCAA, MWC, Faculty Athletic Representative, and General Counsel for violation(s) processing; provide oversight of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics policies and procedures and supervision of Compliance Unit personnel.
This position requires a Master's Degree or Juris Doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum five (5) year's comparable professional experience. In addition, position requires an individual with:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present information concisely and effectively
Strong organizational skills
Professional interpersonal skills necessary to deal with issues which at times maybe sensitive in nature or occur in a hostile or political environment
Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
Advanced knowledge and understanding of NCAA and MCA manual and governance structure
Advanced knowledge of NCAA, Federal, University and State and laws policies and procedures
Advanced knowledge of UNLV and MWC initial/continuing eligibility, recruiting and financial aid rules and regulations
Advanced knowledge of degree requirements and compliance policies and procedures
Ability to travel, work weekends and holidays
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
