The intercollegiate athletics program is an integral part of the university striving to achieve the same standards of excellence in athletics that exist within academic programs. The program is concerned with the physical and mental welfare of the student and strives to ensure that every student-athlete has the opportunity to succeed academically and obtain a degree. Sport programs are a vital function of the University at large.
The position is responsible for all aspects of the Athletics Strategic Communications unit, with primary focuses in the following areas: public relations/strategic communications, multimedia, game operations, publications, budget management and staff supervision.
Bachelor's degree in a field such as Journalism, Communications., English or Sports Management/Administration; master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
At least two years of experience in college athletic communications or a related field.
Must have a strong background in writing, editing, design (print, desktop publishing, web) and be able to oversee all publications, both written and electronic, produced by the Athletic Strategic Communications unit. Must be able to manage the Athletic Department website and oversee production of all multimedia content. Must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the media, coaches and student-athletes, parents, fans and alumni. Proficient with graphic design programs and video editing software. Ability to supervise all Athletic Strategic Communications staff.
