Job Description: Student Athlete Support Services is looking for individuals (3 positions one football, one basketball and one learning services) who have an interest in student athlete academic services or in higher education, teaching, social work and/or counseling psychology to assist with all aspects of Student Athlete Support Services.
Our goal is to train and cultivate young professionals who desire to work in student athlete development programs. Attend orientation at the beginning of term and regular training sessions throughout the term.
Work collaboratively with full time academic coordinators to meet with students, complete weekly academic objective sheets, student athlete meeting reports.
Work one-on-one or in small groups with student athletes assisting them accomplish their academic commitments.
Facilitate understanding and independence in time management, note taking, and written oral communication skills.
Follow all NCAA, MAC, and Ball State rules with the highest level of academic integrity. Other duties as assigned.
This position is a one year contract, of 20 hours/week, with the possibility of additional year’s renewal. A one year contract includes both Fall and Spring. Students must always be enrolled in no less than 6 credit hours while employed in Student Athlete Support Services, main campus or online.
Benefits would include tuition and fees, a bi-weekly stipend and summer tuition for those whose following year is renewed.
Job Qualifications: Applicant must be accepted by or pursuing a master's or doctoral degree at Ball State University. Candidates must be in good academic standing, and have a 3.0 GPA or above.
Applicants should be outgoing, have superb communication skills, excellent time management, and organizational skills.
SASS expects employees to be detail orientated, flexible, be able to solve problems, and think critically.
All staff are expected to uphold academic integrity and confidentiality policies at all times.
Applicants should be available both evenings and daytime shifts.
Special interest is given to those applicants who have experience in peer tutoring, academic coaching/mentoring, working one-on-one or in small groups with at risk student populations.
