Job Purpose Towson University, a Division I member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking an Assistant to the Athletic Director. This position manages the operations of the office of the Director of Athletics and is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing a wide-range of projects and timelines, including the department's strategic plan and University assessment efforts. The Assistant to the AD supports the executive office with the implementation of strategic projects, while providing oversight of the administrative staff.
Description The Assistant to the Athletic Director (AD) manages the day-to day operations of the Executive Office. Supports the AD's management of the strategic plan; involving appropriate stakeholders when necessary; preparing and reviewing operational reports as requested by AD; serves as liaison to Athletics Advisory Board. Manages structured meetings, including scheduling, agenda development, and presenter preparation, meeting organization and taking minutes as necessary. Ensures the AD is prepared for events, meetings, other engagements to include preparations of scripts, presentations, event briefings, talking points, and other supportive materials and research as necessary. Provides onsite support for departmental special events; prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows through on issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of high-level administrative experience. Ability to create an action plan for achieving University priorities and articulate a compelling case for supporting the priorities of Athletics. Demonstrate effectiveness in building consensus and solving problems throughout the organizational structure. Proven ability to work with a variety of constituents to achieve results. Ability to synthesize complex information along with exceptional analytic and creative planning skills. Ability to effectively communicate the vision and goals of the Athletic Department. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Athletics and NCAA rules preferred.
