Lawrence University invites applications for the full-time, 10-month position of Assistant Athletic Trainer.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is primarily responsible for assisting the head athletic trainer in the management of the sports medicine enterprise in the athletics department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with the direction and coordination of all coverage and services of the athletic training room, assisting with the management of all aspects of student-athlete medical care while participating, communicating regularly with appropriate personnel, contributing as a full member of the athletics department and
Lawrence University community. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will operate in accordance with NATA, NCAA, Midwest Conference, National Collegiate Hockey Association, Midwest Fencing Conference, and Lawrence University rules and procedures. Credentials should reflect proven success or ability in working with student-athletes and other personnel in a highly demanding academic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
•Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with practice coverage, contest coverage, general athletic training room services.
•Refer injured/ill student-athletes to appropriate medical personnel as needed.
•Implement and follow established protocols for injury/illness referral, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play.
•Assist in the coordination of the disbursement, collection, and processing of student-athlete paperwork and baseline testing.
•Supervise athletic training student workers.
•Act as a Clinical Preceptor to athletic training students within the UW-Oshkosh CAATE-approved Athletic Training Education Program.
•Assist with coordination and administration of the pre-participation medical examination with the team physicians.
•Provide daily follow-up care and evaluation of the injured/ill athlete and communicate with appropriate personnel (coaches – sport and athletic performance, administration, student life, academic success) regarding status of injury/illness and participation capabilities.
•Oversee the Athletic Training Room with daily maintenance and supervision.
•Operate within the regulations and guidelines set forth by the NATA, NCAA, MWC, NCHA, and Lawrence University.
•Communicate regularly with the Director of Athletics regarding injury/illness updates.
•Work with other University medical staff to ensure the holistic care of our student-athletes as needed.
•Coordinate all athletic training needs in preparation for scheduled competition.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
Must be licensed or eligible for licensing in Wisconsin.
Current Emergency Cardiac Care certification in line with the BOC requirements.
A valid driver’s license.
The ability and willingness to travel and perform evening and weekend work.
Additional Knowledge and Skills
Two years working as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in the collegiate setting.
Employment is contingent on a successful background check.
This position requires a clean, valid driver's license that has been in effect for at least three years.
