The Assistant Director of Athletics is responsible for assisting the Director with organization and administration of the program of intercollegiate athletics. Responsibilities include providing the Director and staff with leadership for the long range planning and direction of the athletic program. In the absence of the Director of Athletics, assume responsibility for the operation of the athletic department. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. Responsibilities include:1. Assist with the organization, administration, and coordination of an athletic program which complements the total educational process of the University. Includes working in cooperation with other members of the Student Life Division. 2. In conjunction with the Director, ensure that the department of athletics is compliant with all NCAA, ECAC, MAC and MAC Freedom regulations. Serve as Misericordia University’s Compliance Officer for Athletics. Be responsible for implementing all regulations including those pertaining to student athlete eligibility as established by the University, NCAA, ECAC, MAC, MAC Freedom, and other organizations to which the University subscribes. 3. Coordinate, in conjunction with the Director, the athletic recruitment and retention effort as it relates to university goals. This will include, but is not limited to communication with the entire Athletic Department’s coaching staff, Admissions Office and Student Success Center. 4. Be responsible for, take an active role in and supervise the overall delivery of athletic department event management. Work in conjunction with Coordinator of Event Management to deliver a professional product. 5. Coordinate Fall Sports Pre-season; involves working with the Assistant to the Athletic Director, Head Coaches, Residence Life, Dining services, Student Success Center, and other impacted campus departments. 6. Coordinate and supervise the roles of the following positions: (1) Equipment Manager; (2) Intern for Athletic Administration. 7. Coordinate and supervise the department’s graduate assistant program. 8. Schedule and contract all intercollegiate athletic contests in collaboration with any part time head coaches. 9. Coordinate, with athletic department staff, the university’s student work study program. 10. Assist the Director with the formulation of departmental goals, policy and procedure. 11. Provide counsel in the selection of coaches and other department staff personnel. 12. Assist the Director with the supervision of the work of coaching personnel and department staff member. 13. When appropriate, represent the University in matters involving the NCAA, ECAC, and MAC and MAC Freedom. 14. Provide a leadership role in developing and implementing an ongoing planning process for the athletic department. 15. Carry out other professional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university. Master’s Degree from an accredited four year college or university preferred. Minimum two years of experience in athletic administration.
