Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine - Athletic Training
South Dakota is accepting applications for an assistant athletic trainer. This position will work with and under the supervision of the Medical Director and Team Physicians; instruct in CAATE approved undergraduate and CAATE entry level athletic training programs as a preceptor; supervise undergraduate and graduate athletic training students; provide primary sport coverage for the volleyball and swimming (men's and women's) team; evaluate and administer first aid to the injured student-athletes; coordinate referrals and maintain communication with athletic health care team and coaches; administer therapeutic exercise and modalities under supervision of a physician and administrative duties with emphasis on medical insurance.
Bachelor’s degree (degree preference to be in Athletic Training, Athletic Administration or Sports Science)
Minimum one (1) year experience in athletic training (volleyball/swimming preferred)
At least 1 year of experience supervising athletic training students
BOC certified/SD License or eligible
CPR and First Aid certified
Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated computer application skills
Master’s degree preferred (degree preference in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Sports Science or Administration)
Division I intercollegiate experience
Experience working with volleyball and/or swimming
Experience with team travel responsibilities
Experience with supply ordering/monitoring
Knowledge and/or understanding of medical records following HIPAA and FERPA and SIMS
Knowledge and/or understanding of medical insurance
