The University of Dayton, a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, is accepting applications for the position of Head Women’s Track & Field Coach to provide leadership, organization and administration for all phases of our Division I program. The University of Dayton has a broad-based 17-sport intercollegiate athletics program.The Head Coach for Women’s Track & Field will be responsible for all aspects of the teams’ needs. The coach will primarily instruct, train and coach student-athletes about the sport and skills required and to be maintained for Division I competition. The coach will also instruct student-athletes for purposes of academic, social development, compliance requirements, and safety and health considerations. The head coach will recruit quality student-athletes and engage in strategic leadership, addressing matters such as team composition, competition strategies, and peak performance. The coach will perform additional duties related to coaching, as needed (e.g., compliance education, budget management, equipment procurement, fundraising and other duties). University of Dayton Athletics’ employees are charged with adhering to all NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference and University of Dayton regulations and standards. The coach should be able to demonstrate expertise in all aspects of coaching student-athletes and a commitment to the highest ideals of sportsmanship and academics as well as developing and maintaining a positive student-athlete experience. Minimum qualifications include:
Demonstrated experience as a successful track and field coach,
Demonstrated successful recruiting, developing and retaining quality student-athletes from diverse backgrounds,
Demonstrated expertise in one or more event areas,
Demonstrated excellent and effective written communication skills,
A valid driver’s license with a low risk driving record and the ability to successfully be insured by the university,
A strong commitment to adhering to institutional, conference and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations, and
A strong commitment to safety and student-athlete welfare.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience as a track coach at the collegiate level with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds,
Advanced training in one or more event areas,
History of developing regionally or nationally competitive student-athletes,
Able to demonstrate effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills,
Able to demonstrate the ability to project a positive image of the program and University as well as a dedication to academics and personal development of student-athletes.
