The Department of Athletics is seeking a Head Coach-Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Athletic Director.The mission of the OSU Department of Athletics is to provide opportunity to young people and develop leaders through a tradition of academic and athletic achievement in a progressive, inclusive environment of mutual respect.The Head Coach directs all phases of the Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Program. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to: organizing and supervising all practices and meets, recruiting quality student-athletes, scheduling, budgeting, planning team travel, committing to and monitoring student-athlete academic progress, and participating in community and sport specific fund-raising efforts and public relations. This position may also be asked to participate in athletic department-wide functions.
Bachelor’s degree in field of choice.
Three years of full-time experience as a Head or Assistant Coach in an NCAA Cross Country and/or Track & Field program.
Demonstrated familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. The ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OAR 125-155-0200) as per OAR 576-056-0000 et seq.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Master’s degree in field of choice.
Demonstrated success at the Division I level as an Assistant or Head Cross Country and/or Track and Field Coach.
Successful public relations skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
