SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESSchreiner University is a small private liberal arts university located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. The university competes in NCAA Division III as a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Athletics is a vibrant and important part of the Schreiner culture and the new assistant director will play an important role as the university enters its next strategic planning process. Under the leadership of a newly appointed President, the Departments of Student Services and Athletics will work across campus to continue the growth of enrollment by recruiting and retaining the nation’s best Division III athletes. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director will manage NCAA Compliance, sports information/marketing and assist the department in game day operations. A successful candidate will have experience working in a college or university athletics department and have knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations, as well as cultivating friends of a college athletics program in an effort to help meet enrollment and fundraising goals. The Assistant Director will work with the Director of Athletics to advocate for the importance of athletics within the campus community, as well as the larger Kerrville community.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred along with increasing responsibility in athletic administration in higher education, or substantial related experience.
Knowledge and application of all NCAA DIII, Conference, and institutional rules & regulations
Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills.
Excellent leadership skills to teach and mentor student workers.
Firm commitment to a student-centered culture and the academic success of student-athletes are essential.
Working knowledge of sport statistics software (Stat crew); must be able to stat volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball and soccer- in game preferred.
Exceptional problem solving skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and ability to resolve issues under intense time constraints and pressures.
Familiarity w/ Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, website maintenance and photography preferred.
Ability to create and edit highlight videos as well as experience with social media preferred.
Ability to cultivate alumni and booster participation.
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, related insurance and good driving record, CDL preferred.
