Job DescriptionThe Head Track and Field Coach will manage and operate the track and field team while complying with all River States/ NAIA regulations. In addition, the incumbent coach will develop the track and field programs, including but not limited to: recruiting, training, skill development, event scheduling, and preparing student athletes for competition.Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:Establish all aspects of the men and women's track and field program at IU East, including recruiting, training and coaching quality student-athletes as members of the track and field program. Develop skills and strategies for competition. Instill and demand respect and sportsmanship towards officials, opponents, teammates and oneself; demonstrate correct techniques and skills to compete the sport safely and to help student athletes avoid injury.Plan and execute the schedule of all competitions and practices in compliance with the RSC and NAIA regulations. Monitor and facilitate compliance in NAIA athletic directives. Participate in due process procedures as needed. Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, Sports Information Director and the Department of External Affairs to manage relations for the track and field program.Comply with academic policies, standards and requirements of the university, including the monitoring and encouraging the regular progress toward an academic degree. Make good faith efforts, in cooperation with the university's faculty and administration, to meet all student-athletes academic requirements and to integrate sports into the whole spectrum of academic life for all student-athletes. Use reasonable efforts to arrange travel and scheduling by student-athletes in such a manner as to minimize lost classroom time.Perform other related duties, such as: notifying players of practices, games, and team meetings: managing the sport network and /or facility: oversight of Ref Wolf Partners, Club, or Foundation: providing game and academic study hall oversight: serving as recruiting coordinator, graf center coordinator, and/or assisting with another sport.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree required: master's degree is preferred
A minimum of two (2) years of experience of collegiate coaching and/or collegiate experience
An ability to work in an environment where the education, welfare, and graduation of student-athletes receive primary emphasis.
Basic understanding of computers, including Microsoft Office programs and web applications.
Ability to work across academic and administrative departments in a cooperative manner with a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven administrative skills.
CDL license or ability to earn and maintain CDL license; Ability to meet the insurable criteria for Indiana University.

Normal athletic equipment; strength-training equipment; track and Field equipment. Basic office equipment, including computer, video and photography equipment will also be used.
