The Ohio State University Department of Athletics is seeking a Assistant Coach for Rifle. Full-time attention and energy of the Assistant Coach will be devoted to the coaching and teaching of athletes in the sport of Rifle. The Assistant Coach will be involved in recruiting and selection of team members in compliance with conference, NCAA, and Ohio State rules and regulations. Assistant Coach is also directly tasked with assisting student athletes to maintain the high academic standards set forth by The Ohio State University and the NCAA. Assistant Coach will be charged with maintaining high moral, ethical, BIG 10, and NCAA standards expected of a Coach at The Ohio State University. The Rifle Assistant Coach will be fully immersed in team operations and will perform all duties assigned by the Head Coach and The Ohio State University. These duties shall include but are not limited to: Complete (technical, mental, and physical) coaching duties relating to the sport of NCAA Rifle, range safety, rifle and equipment purchase and repair, budget planning, scholarship allocation, electronic target maintenance and repair, team travel coordination, recruiting, schedule planning, academic monitoring, community outreach, range maintenance, and other departmental responsibilities. This position corresponds and interacts with student athletes, parents/guardians/families to help create an environment of support, growth, and exceptional student athlete experience.The Assistant Coach will work in a creative and collaborative team environment where transparency, open communication, and change are embraced and where innovation is encouraged.
Required: One or more years collegiate or national level coaching experience (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Graduate Assistant Coach). Expansive knowledge of technical, mental, and physical techniques related to NCAA Rifle. Knowledge and experience with NCAA rules and compliance. Proficient in the use of the Megalink Electronic Target Systems. Ability to travel extensively throughout the year for team travel and recruiting.
Desired: Excellent communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse population. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
